LAKEVILLE, Ct., (July 21, 2017) - Alex Job Racing drivers Bill Sweedler (Westport, Conn.) and Townsend Bell (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) will start from the eighth row for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park tomorrow.
Under a warm sun, nearly 90-degrees, the track located two-and-a-half hours north of New York City, proved to be tricky when the drivers and AJR crew were setting up the No. 23 Audi R8 LMS today at Lime Rock Park.
Sweedler had the wheel for the 15-minute qualifying session. The Connecticut resident posted a time of 53.998 good for an eighth row starting position. Together with teammate Bell they are looking for a strong run in tomorrow's two-hour-and-forty-minute race that takes the green at 3:05 p.m. ET.
"The track is holding a lot of heat and that is playing havoc with our set-up," Sweedler said. "We made a lot of changes to the car during the practice sessions as well as in between. We will need to take another stab at it for the warm-up in the morning. We will make it better for the race."
"Bill and Townsend did a good job in practice providing feedback to get the car tuned into the hot track," Alex Job, team owner said. "With limited track time on a two-day weekend you have to unload here with your set-up pretty close to race comfort. This is a momentum track so everything has to be just right as the GTD competitors are all within about a second of each other. We still have some work to do."
The IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship from Lime Rock Park live flag-to-flag race coverage begins at 3 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, July 22 on FS2.
