TAVARES, Fla. - Sven Müller (Germany) will be joining the WeatherTech Racing team and driver Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) for this weekend's IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase to be run at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin this weekend, August 5-7.
Müller is a Porsche Junior Driver who is leading the points in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany series'. So far this year he has won 10 of 12 races in Carrera Cup and three of six in Supercup. In 2015 he finished second in Supercup with four wins and was Rookie of the Year in Carrera Cup Germany in 2014. He made his first IMSA start at the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona in January where he competed with Frikadelli Racing (12th in GTD).
"It is going to be a real pleasure to drive with Alex Job Racing," Müller said. "I already know Mario Farnbacher and Alex Riberas from racing in Europe. To have a good strong teammate like Cooper makes this weekend even more interesting. I have been learning the Road America circuit on the simulator and I am looking forward to driving it tomorrow."
"We decided to make a driver change for the rest of the season in the WeatherTech Porsche," team owner, Alex Job said. "Leh Keen has won races with us, but off the track circumstances led to a change. We wish Leh all the best going forward. Sven is a fast young driver that is currently leading both the Supercup and Carrera Cup series in Europe. We are looking forward to having a successful weekend of racing at Road America. We will reassess where we are with the 22 Porsche after this weekend."
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase will be broadcast live Sunday, August 28, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT. Practice and qualifying sessions can followed at IMSA.tv and IMSA.com.
