DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Alex Job (Tavares, Fla.) was named the recipient of the 2014 Rolex Bob Snodgrass Award of Excellence. It was presented by Gorsline Company at the Grand Marshall dinner last evening.
The recognition is based on the team's success on the track during the 2014 race season. Job was presented with a specially engraved Rolex Stainless Steel and Platinum Yacht-Master timepiece.
"It is a surprise and very much an honor to receive the Rolex Bob Snodgrass Award of Excellence," Job said. "Bob and I met back in the 70s and he personified the professional team owner. We were competitors and friends. We combined efforts in 2003 to run the No. 58 Red Bull Porsche at Daytona. Bob's team has won the 24 hours four times and he is a big part of the history of the race."
The Rolex Bob Snodgrass Award of Excellence was created to recognize the team owner or team manager who has demonstrated the qualities of integrity, passion for the sport, and love of cars for which Bob Snodgrass was known during his life and career. The award, supported by Gorsline Company, the premier insurer of high-risk professionals, has been presented previously to Bob Stallings (2010), Joe Sahlen (2011), Peter Baron (2012), John Stevenson (2013), and Alex Job (2014).
Alex Job Racing is one of the most successful teams in sports car racing with 70 wins (since 1995); including two Rolex 24 GT Class wins in 1999 and 2013. This record is supported by 48 pole positions and 106 podium finishes. The team has won five championships (GTC 2013, 2012, GT in 2004, 2003 and 2002) complimented by their two GT class wins at Le Mans. The team also boasts nine Sebring 12-hour wins.
