MONTEREY, Calif. - WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil and Leh Keen will start tomorrow's TUDOR United SportsCar Continental Tire Grand Prix powered by Mazda at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from the fourth row in GTD.

The duo of Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Leh Keen (Charleston, SC) spent practice and as well qualifying trying to dial in the No. 22 WeatherTech Racing Porsche. The undulating 2.2-mile, 11-turn road course requires just the right set-up. MacNeil had the controls during the 15-minute qualifying session this afternoon. The University of Colorado at Boulder student put in a time of 1:28.966 good enough for ninth place on the GTD grid.

"Qualifying was close," MacNeil said. "Nine-tenths of a second covers second to eighth place on the grid. I had some bad luck in traffic at the end. I came up on some cars that were on their cool down lap, so that slowed me a little. We are starting on the inside tomorrow so that is a positive. I think we will have a good race car tomorrow. The WeatherTech Porsche is consistent on tires across a stint and that will help us to move-up the field.

Keen and the team have been testing some pieces in practice.

"We have been using the practice sessions to test some brake pads," Keen said. "We have been through three different pad compounds. I think we have settled on one we like. We've been multi-tasking the practices. The car is getting better each time out. We still have a little bit of a push in the car, which is hurting us in a couple of the corners. We can see it on the data. We have a good car for the race and we will be ready."

Alex Job, team owner, likes the team's chances tomorrow.

"Cooper and Leh have been working with the team on some braking options this weekend," Job said. "The GTD field is very competitive, second through eighth place are all within a second of each other. Both Cooper and Leh know how to win at this track. We have some work to do in the warm-up, but we will be ready come race time."

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Grand Prix powered by Mazda will be televised on Fox Sports 1, Sunday, May 3, starting at 4 p.m. ET.
